Revenge is one of my favorite Sins that I've painted in my "Series of Sin" work. This painting is 6' 7" wide an 5' high! Not one of my largest works... but still very powerful to see in real life That mouth is huge!
Revenge is a demon hooked to a chain attached to a torture device that tighten and loosens back and forth. When it’s tightened it stabs knives into his back and when it’s loose he kills and tortures the souls around him. The saying Sweet and Sour is a play on a saying that "revenge is sweet" but in this case it’s also a bit sour since the action of revenge pulls the chain far enough to cause sour consequences (the collar chokes him and it springs back where the device again “stabs him in the back”) <-which is another old saying which leads to revenge. In the actual picture Revenge is pounding Sin into a wall angrily because this is the fate that Sin has set up for him, and although he enjoys the revenge/torture parts he does to others, he is still unable to be free of the chain device and a series of pains that keep him in essence consistently angry and full of revenge.
